Position: Middle School ELA Teacher (26-27)
Reports To: Principal
Location: Smilow Prep or Reimagine Prep
Compensation: Starting at $47,895 for Jackson, MS

THE ROLE
- Designing and delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in your content area within 1:1 blended learning environments, ensuring all scholars experience joyful, grade-level learning that prepares them for long-term success.
- Serving as a content and grade-level expert, grounding instruction in deep standards mastery and leveraging best practices to drive academic excellence across the classroom.
- Setting ambitious academic goals with scholars, closely monitoring progress, and providing frequent, actionable feedback that motivates and supports growth.
- Analyzing student data and partnering with school based leadership to develop and implement targeted student growth plans when achievement concerns arise.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with scholars and families through consistent, proactive communication.
- Creating a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that supports scholars’ academic, social, and emotional development.
- Meeting all professional expectations, including deadlines for lesson planning and internalization, grade submission, and analyzation of student work samples.
- Working as part of a collaborative team of teachers and leaders to ensure consistency, shared accountability, and high expectations for all scholars.
- Continuously developing your instructional practice by receiving and providing feedback through coaching cycles with the Academics Team and leadership team.
- Performing additional duties as assigned in service of school and scholar success.

THE MUST HAVES
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- Valid state teaching license/certification (Tennessee or Mississippi), or a commitment to enroll in an approved alternative certification program upon hire
- Strong ability to navigate instructional technology and data systems
- Ability to design and deliver instruction using a variety of digital tools and learning platforms
- Openness to giving and receiving frequent, actionable feedback as part of a continuous improvement culture
- Ability to maintain professionalism and emotional composure in high-pressure situations
- A demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, growth, and professional development

THE PERKS
- Compensation: This position is a salaried position; salary offers commensurate with experience. The starting salary for a first-year teacher in Jackson, MS is $47,895 and Nashville, TN is $53,610
- Retirement Plans: Employees may participate in TCRS retirement plan in Nashville, TN, or the Principal retirement plan in Jackson, MS.
- Paid Time Off: Employees receive 10 days of Paid Time Off, in addition to network closures. This includes 8 personal leave days and 2 mental health days.
- Paid Leave Programming: In the event an employee needs to take maternity or paternity leave, RePublic Schools provides paid medical leave based on length of service. Employees who have been employed for less than one year are eligible for up to 4 weeks of leave at 100% pay. Employees with more than one year of service are eligible for up to 9 weeks of leave at 100% pay, followed by an additional 3 weeks at 40% pay.
- Comprehensive Benefits Program: RePublic Schools provides $10,000 in employer-paid life insurance at 100% coverage. Additionally, the organization offers term life and disability insurance, as well as Carrot Fertility benefits, with 100% of the premiums covered by RePublic Schools.
