Description
The Department of Performing Arts at Clemson University seeks an outstanding candidate to instruct the drumline for the nationally recognized Tiger Band, teach studio percussion lessons to majors and non-majors, direct percussion ensemble, direct steel band, and teach a course in World Music beginning August 1, 2026. This is a 9-month faculty position that will hold the academic rank of fulltime lecturer. In addition to working closely with the director, associate director, and assistant director of bands in an established team environment, the successful candidate will participate fully in departmental activities including recruiting, auditions, attending recitals, concerts, and working collaboratively with faculty members from the music, theatre, and audio areas in the Performing Arts major.
Clemson University Drumline (CUD) duties will include: Recruit, audition, rehearse 29-30 member battery (no front ensemble). Direct weekly 2-hour class ensemble, attend Tiger Band band camp, rehearsals, game days, and full band travel including full band post season travel. Opportunity to write drum parts for marching band arrangements (have current writer). Maintain Yamaha, Remo, Sabian, and Innovative Percussion equipment.

About Clemson Performing Arts
The Performing Arts degree at Clemson University is a nationally distinctive degree that integrates the technology, performance, production, theory, and history of the performing arts into a unified program of study that prepares students for careers in many aspects of the arts. The Department of Performing Arts occupies the Robert Howell Brooks Center for the Performing Arts. The Brooks Center is an 87,000 square foot educational/performance building that includes classrooms, rehearsal halls, offices, and supporting spaces.

Candidates should have a minimum of a master’s degree in music.
Additional qualifications: demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and student recruitment.
