Network Architect Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a network architect in Mississippi?
Most network architects in Mississippi start with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or network engineering, then build toward Cisco's CCNP or CCIE certification. Mississippi has no state-issued license specific to network architecture, so industry certifications and a portfolio of enterprise design work carry the most weight with employers. Government and defense contractors in the state often require candidates to hold or qualify for a federal security clearance before an offer is extended.
How much do network architects make in Mississippi?
Network architects in Mississippi earn a median of about $90,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,760 for the lowest 10% to over $174,600 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire network architects in Mississippi?
Companies currently hiring network architects in Mississippi include M.C. Dean, CVS Health, and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's government IT contractors, healthcare systems, and Gulf Coast defense firms generate the most consistent demand for this role.
Which Mississippi cities have the most network architect jobs?
Jackson, Biloxi, and Flowood are the Mississippi cities with the most network architect openings. Jackson drives the largest share of postings as the state capital and home to major healthcare systems and government IT contracts, while Gulfport and the Gulf Coast corridor attract openings tied to defense contractors and port logistics infrastructure.
Are there remote network architect jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, and more than many technical roles, since network architects spend significant time in design tools and documentation rather than physical installations. About 25% of network architect openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting real flexibility in the market. The phases most suited to remote work are architecture planning, policy design, and vendor evaluation, while on-site presence is still expected during major deployments or data center build-outs.
How can I get hired as a network architect in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a network engineer or systems administrator role at a Mississippi hospital system, state agency, or managed service provider, then moving toward architecture responsibilities over time. The University of Mississippi Medical Center and Mississippi state government IT divisions regularly hire junior network engineers who can grow into design roles. Earning a CCNA first gives candidates a concrete credential that Mississippi employers recognize as a baseline for entry-level network positions before advancing toward architect-level work.
Where can I find and apply to network architect jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to network architect jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
