Oncology Social Worker Jobs in Tucson: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a oncology social worker job in Tucson?
The strongest path into oncology social work in Tucson runs through the city's large academic medical center and affiliated cancer programs, which hire the most consistently. Candidates who stand out typically have supervised clinical hours in oncology, palliative care, or chronic illness settings, and an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program. Familiarity with Tucson's bilingual patient population and experience with Spanish-language case coordination also gives applicants a real edge with local employers.
Which companies hire oncology social workers in Tucson?
Tucson oncology social worker roles are posted by Banner Health, Tucson Medical Center, and Talented Medical Solutions and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Local hiring is driven primarily by hospital systems, outpatient cancer centers, and nonprofit hospice organizations serving the greater Tucson and southern Arizona region.
Are there remote oncology social worker jobs in Tucson?
Remote oncology social worker roles are uncommon because most of the work involves direct patient and family support in clinical or home settings. About 0% of oncology social worker openings tied to Tucson are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to focus on telehealth counseling, care coordination, or patient navigation tasks rather than bedside or in-person case management.
How can I get a oncology social worker job in Tucson with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Tucson is a clinical internship or practicum placement at one of the city's hospital systems or nonprofit hospice agencies, which routinely host MSW students in oncology and palliative care units. From there, entry-level patient navigator and care coordinator roles at outpatient cancer clinics offer a direct path into oncology-focused work. Volunteering with Tucson-based cancer support organizations also builds local professional connections that translate into job referrals.
