Oncology Social Worker Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a oncology social worker job in Atlanta?
Atlanta's strongest hiring comes from its large academic health systems, NCI-designated cancer programs, and the cluster of community hospitals and outpatient oncology clinics in Buckhead and the Emory corridor. Candidates with supervised oncology field hours, experience with palliative care coordination, and familiarity with Atlanta's community resource networks stand out. Targeting roles at cancer centers attached to teaching hospitals gives the most direct path into the specialty.
Which companies hire oncology social workers in Atlanta?
Companies currently hiring oncology social workers in Atlanta include Emory Healthcare, Northside Hospital, and Piedmont Healthcare, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Atlanta's hiring is driven by large integrated health systems, freestanding cancer treatment centers, and hospice organizations concentrated in Midtown, Buckhead, and the Emory-Druid Hills area.
Are there remote oncology social worker jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, though remote work is limited for oncology social workers because most roles involve direct patient contact, care coordination, and in-person hospital or clinic presence. About 15% of oncology social worker openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with telehealth counseling and psychosocial assessment follow-ups being the most common remote-eligible functions in Atlanta-based positions.
How can I get a oncology social worker job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Atlanta is securing a field placement or practicum at one of the city's cancer treatment centers or academic medical center social work departments during your MSW program. Atlanta's hospital systems and hospice organizations regularly bring on graduate-level interns who convert to staff roles. Entry-level care coordinator and patient navigator positions at Atlanta outpatient oncology clinics also provide a direct lateral path into a dedicated oncology social work role.
Which industries hire the most oncology social workers in Atlanta?
Most oncology social worker openings in Atlanta sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Atlanta's concentration of academic medical centers, NCI-affiliated cancer programs, and a growing network of outpatient oncology and hospice providers makes those sectors the consistent drivers of local demand.
