Summary of Position:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying/pursuing new business opportunities for our diverse outsourcing service offerings to our clients, including Human Resources (HR) Consulting, Benefits Brokerage, Payroll Services, and Managed Accounting Services. As a Business Development Manager, you will focus on building and nurturing relationships with prospective clients, understanding their needs, presenting customized solutions that address their business challenges. You will be instrumental in driving growth by expanding our client base and increasing service adoption, with the potential to shape and grow the position as our service lines evolve.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy & Execution:
- Develop/Execute a comprehensive sales strategy including budget, timeline, and other successful metrics to promote our HR Consulting, Benefits Brokerage, Payroll, and Managed Accounting Services.
- Identify and target prospective clients, including small and medium-sized businesses, to introduce and sell our service offerings.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify key differentiators, as well as new opportunities, and potential gaps in the market.
- Build/Maintain a robust pipeline of leads and prospects, ensuring steady business growth and client acquisition.
Client Relationship Management:
- Cultivate long-term relationships with clients and prospects through consistent follow-up and excellent customer service.
- Become a trusted advisor, understanding client needs and offering tailored solutions across our service lines.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of services post-sale and ensure client satisfaction.
Sales Presentations & Negotiations:
- Lead engaging presentations and demonstrations of our service offerings to potential clients.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing based on client needs and company objectives.
- Deliver proposals that clearly articulate the value proposition and benefits of our services.
Service Line Expansion & Adaptation:
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging needs in HR consulting, benefits, payroll, and accounting services.
- Collaborate with internal teams to adapt and expand service offerings based on market demand and evolving client needs.
- Identify and drive cross-selling opportunities between service lines as they expand or change.
Reporting & Performance Metrics:
- Monitor/Report on sales activities, including lead generation, sales pipeline, and revenue targets.
- Use CRM systems and tools to track sales performance and progress towards goals.
- Provide insights into market trends and client feedback to help refine business development strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management ideally within either of the following industries: Public Accounting Firms, HR Consulting, Benefits Brokerage, Payroll/PEOs, SMB SaaS, Fractional CFO Firms, Outsourcing/Managed Accounting Services, or Staffing/Recruitment.
- Proven success in selling B2B services with a strong track record of achieving sales targets.
- Strong understanding of HR Consulting, Payroll, Benefits, Accounting Services; familiarity with industry trends and challenges is a Plus.
- Exp. working with/having a network of small/mid-sized businesses preferred, not required.
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence at all levels.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to close deals, manage client expectations.
- Proficient in CRM software (Salesforce, HubSpot) and MS Office Suite.
- Self-motivated, goal oriented, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
