Partnership Development Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a partnership development manager in California?
Most partnership development manager roles in California require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline, along with several years of experience in sales, account management, or business development. California does not require a state-issued license for this role. Candidates who build experience at California's technology companies or large enterprise firms and develop a portfolio of closed partnership agreements are most competitive with hiring managers here.
Which companies hire partnership development managers in California?
Employers hiring partnership development managers in California right now include TikTok, BKF Engineers, and KPMG, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's dense concentration of technology headquarters, healthcare systems, and media companies means consistent demand across a wide range of employer sizes and industries.
Which California cities have the most partnership development manager jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Jose have the most partnership development manager openings in California. San Francisco and the broader Bay Area lead because of the high density of enterprise software and SaaS company headquarters there, while Los Angeles draws volume from media, entertainment, and health-tech firms, and San Diego contributes strong demand from its biotech and defense-sector ecosystem.
Are there remote partnership development manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields, because partnership development work centers on relationship management, video calls, and contract negotiation that translate well to remote settings. About 28% of partnership development manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting strong adoption across the state's technology sector. Roles focused on strategic alliances and channel programs tend to offer the most location flexibility.
How can I get hired as a partnership development manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a sales development, account coordinator, or business development representative role at a California technology or healthcare company, where you gain direct exposure to partner-facing work. Large California employers including Salesforce, Oracle, and major Bay Area SaaS firms run associate business development programs that recruit candidates without extensive experience. Building a portfolio of outreach campaigns, co-marketing projects, or any formalized referral relationships you have managed will give you a concrete edge over applicants who list education alone.
