Entry Level Photonics Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level photonics engineer job?
Employers hiring at this level look for hands-on experience with optical systems, laser components, or fiber optics gained through coursework, lab work, or internships. A strong capstone project or documented work with simulation tools like Zemax or COMSOL can set a new candidate apart. Applying to roles that explicitly list 0 to 2 years of experience keeps your search focused on positions built for this stage.
Which companies hire entry level photonics engineers?
Companies hiring entry level photonics engineers right now include Nokia, AMD, and Intel, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of defense contractors, semiconductor firms, and research-driven technology companies that maintain active entry level pipelines.
Are there remote entry level photonics engineer jobs?
Yes, though the majority of openings require on-site work because of lab equipment and hardware requirements. About 0% of entry level photonics engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, so filtering by work setting when you search helps narrow results to what fits your situation.
Are these new grad photonics engineer jobs?
Yes, this page includes new grad, recent graduate, and junior photonics engineer roles alongside other entry level openings. A posting is typically new grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-ops toward requirements, or accepts a strong portfolio in place of full-time work history. Look for language like "new graduate welcome" or "entry level" in the listing itself.
Which industries hire the most entry level photonics engineers?
Entry Level photonics engineer roles concentrate in Electronics & Hardware, Manufacturing, and Telecommunications, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because they depend on optical and laser technologies that require a steady pipeline of newly trained engineers to support product development and research programs.
