Position Overview
As an Electrical Power Distribution Estimator, you will play a critical role in supporting business development and project execution by preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for utility distribution construction projects.
You will evaluate bid documents, construction drawings, specifications, and scope requirements to ensure complete and competitive proposals. This role partners closely with Project Managers, operations teams, vendors, and subcontractors to drive successful bid strategies and project awards.
This position is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional with strong analytical skills and experience in electrical distribution systems, utility construction, or estimating functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze bid specifications, drawings, and contract documents for electrical distribution projects
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, takeoffs, and pricing models for labor, materials, and equipment
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure complete and competitive bids
- Coordinate with Project Managers and operations teams to align estimating assumptions with execution strategy
- Track and follow up on bid submissions, budgets, and proposal updates
- Maintain accurate documentation and estimate records for future benchmarking and analysis
- Assist in identifying risks, cost drivers, and value engineering opportunities

What It Takes
- Experience in estimating, electrical construction, or utility distribution projects
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid packages
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

- Familiarity with unit pricing, assemblies, and construction cost databases
- Exposure to utility clients, co‑ops, or municipal power providers
- Experience with estimating or takeoff software (e.g., HCSS, Accubid, or similar tools)
