Role Summary
The American Housing Corporation (AHC) is developing a prefabricated, panelized residential product platform for rowhome and low-rise multifamily applications. Design Technologist / BIM Lead will own the digital production flow and design automation on the Product team. You will implement BIM-management best-practices, experiment with cutting edge AI design automations, maintain the source-of-truth models for all of our building components. This role is central to creating a seamless workflow between product development and scalable project delivery.
You will execute across the full stack: design, modeling, documentation, factory, and the field. You think in systems and platforms, move quickly and iteratively, and are comfortable living in the design to manufacturing to construction loop. You take ownership past the traditional architectural boundary, and you're organized and quality-control minded.
About The Company
The American Housing Corporation is on a mission to solve the America’s housing crisis through all-out housing production. We believe that America’s affordability crisis is fundamentally a production crisis, and that solving it requires a vertically integrated development approach: We buy land, design and manufacture, install, and sell our homes directly to customers — all by ourselves.
The American Dream is built, not inherited. We're hiring the best engineers, designers, and builders to solve the hardest problem in America. We’re based in Austin, TX and build across the country.
Core Responsibilities
Design automation strategy. In collaboration with Product and Software teams decide how the product platform and its workflows scale. Propose ways to expedite product development and scale project delivery across multiple jurisdictions. .
The product platform. Build and maintain a BIM library of kit-of-parts and rules-based configuration system governing unit layouts, stacking, and variation — all operating within structural, MEP, manufacturing, and code constraints.
Staged productization, tied to certification. Advance each component through concept to BIM to construction documentation to field validation.
BOM integration. Work with Software, Manufacturing, and Construction teams on automating BOM generation from concept feasibility to construction documentation.
Distribution and handoff. Define how the system is communicated and handed off to manufacturing, the field, jurisdiction authorities, and future projects — panelization logic, fabrication-intent details, install sequencing, and the standards that let the next project move fast.
Integration and documentation control. Act as the connective point across Architecture, Structural, MEP, manufacturing, software, and in-field teams, resolving conflicts in the model rather than the field. Maintain fabrication-aligned BIM models, permit-ready drawing sets, and a controlled component library consistent across every product variation. Produce high-quality drawings for all components. Automate parts of drawing production using the BIM library of parts.
Required Experience
Advanced digital workflow / cross-platform fluency. Required: advanced modeling in Revit, ACC, Rhino, Dynamo, Grasshopper, and visualization software. Proven ability to move data across software and platforms and to design how information flows through a toolchain.
Agentic / AI-assisted tool development is a plus.
Licensed architect (or on a clear path to licensure).
6–10+ years in architecture, with hands-on experience in building-system coordination, modeling, documentation, and construction.
Strong grasp of architectural documentation fundamentals — what gets documented, and to whom — alongside building-systems integration and CD standards.
Proven ability to maintain complex systems across multiple product and project iterations.
Prefabrication / modular / panelized construction
Product-platform delivery over project-based delivery
AEC tech background and architectural productization development
Experience integrating architecture with structural and MEP systems
Hands-on involvement in construction or prototyping

Senior Level Product Design Lead Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level product design lead job?
Employers hiring at this level look for a portfolio that demonstrates ownership of complex product problems from discovery through delivery, not just polished visuals. Highlight moments where your design decisions shaped product strategy or measurable outcomes. Experience mentoring other designers, facilitating cross-functional alignment, and building or maintaining a design system will distinguish you from mid-level candidates.
Which companies hire senior level product design leads?
Companies hiring senior level product design leads right now include Rippling, Apple, and Chime, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers established tech and software companies, growth-stage startups scaling their design function, and large enterprises investing in user experience as a strategic differentiator.
Are there remote senior level product design lead jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid availability at this level is substantial. About 14% of senior level product design lead openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how many organizations have normalized distributed design leadership. Fully on-site roles still exist, particularly at companies building collaborative studio cultures or those in regulated industries.
What makes a product design lead role senior level?
Senior level product design lead roles are defined by scope and ownership rather than task execution. Candidates are expected to set design direction for entire product areas, own quality across a team's output, and influence roadmap decisions alongside product and engineering partners. Mentoring earlier-career designers and advocating for design standards across the organization are core expectations, not optional contributions.
Which industries hire the most senior level product design leads?
Senior Level product design lead roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Fintech, and Aerospace & Defense, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to invest heavily in design leadership because product differentiation and user experience are direct drivers of growth, retention, and competitive positioning at scale.
