We're looking for a Project Engineer, APM or PM for civil and water infrastructure who wants more than just another project—someone who takes pride in building quality infrastructure, leading successful teams, and delivering projects the right way.
This role is ideal for a project manager with experience in heavy civil and water/wastewater construction who understands how to manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and owner relationships while keeping projects on track. Whether you've managed treatment plants, pump stations, underground utilities, or other civil infrastructure projects, we'd like to talk.
You'll work closely with experienced superintendents and company leadership, with minimal layers between project teams and ownership. We value leaders who communicate well, solve problems, build strong relationships with owners and engineers, and take ownership of project success from start to finish.
We offer a competitive compensation package, strong benefits, bonus opportunities, and the chance to build challenging infrastructure projects with a well-established and growing Nashville contractor.
The ideal candidate comes with prior treatment plant experience, building water quality infrastructure, lift stations, pump stations, including but not limited to experience with dirt, yard piping, structural concrete, inside mechanical and process piping.

Project Engineer Jobs in Nashville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project engineer job in Nashville?
Focus on Nashville's highest-demand sectors: commercial construction, healthcare facility development, and civil infrastructure tied to the city's rapid growth. Firms working on mixed-use developments in the Gulch, hospital expansions in Midtown, and TDOT corridor projects in the metro area hire regularly. A PE license strengthens your candidacy at larger firms, and hands-on experience with Tennessee-specific permitting or TDOT standards gives you a concrete edge over out-of-state candidates.
Which companies hire project engineers in Nashville?
Companies currently hiring project engineers in Nashville include GFT, Affiliated Engineers, and LJA, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Nashville's employer mix leans heavily toward regional construction and engineering firms, healthcare systems with active capital programs, and utilities managing infrastructure growth across Davidson and surrounding counties.
Are there remote project engineer jobs in Nashville?
Yes, but only for a subset of the role. Project engineering is largely site-dependent, so fully remote positions are uncommon for construction or field-heavy work. About 55% of project engineer openings tied to Nashville are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, mostly covering estimating, scheduling, or program coordination roles at firms with distributed portfolios.
How can I get a project engineer job in Nashville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Nashville is targeting construction management firms and engineering consultancies that hire project engineers in training or junior EIT roles alongside active PE candidates. Nashville's volume of public infrastructure and healthcare construction creates steady junior openings. Internships with regional general contractors or municipal utilities, plus familiarity with Procore or Bluebeam, signal readiness to local hiring managers faster than a credential alone.
Which industries hire the most project engineers in Nashville?
The sectors hiring the most project engineers in Nashville are Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Nashville's sustained population growth, a pipeline of mixed-use and transit projects, and a large healthcare capital expansion market keep demand across these sectors consistently above the national average for mid-sized metros.
