INTRODUCTION
Tetra Tech AMT is looking for an Aeronautical Information Specialist to AJV-A46 (IFP Systems Team) at FAA.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for evaluating the TARGETS software to verify it meets AJV-A requirements potentially both for conventional and/or “PBN” procedure and route requirement
- Specialist will need to leverage ATC background and/or pilot experience (civil or military), and expertise to provide advisory/consulting to FAA clients as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) at times
- Support the TARGETS development cycle and help identify, validate, and resolve TARGETS issues/improvements and collect requirements for TARGETS
- Will need to work with TARGETS stakeholders such as FAA AJV-A Specialists and folks within the Flight Procedures Team (FPT) to understand existing TARGETS issues and/or new improvements/features
- Support system/tool development by providing project management support to include participate in regular telcons discussing bugs/issues/enhancements related to TARGETS, potentially assigning/determining priority against planned software releases
- Create or enhance test plans (e.g. regression, new feature, system, user acceptance test, pre-release)
- Coordinate and run user testing events and other meetings (TARGETS backlog meetings, TARGETS Roadmap briefing, TARGETS Release meetings), includes the logistics involved (select a location/conference room, create and edit briefings, setup web sharing and telephone bridge portion of the meeting if applicable)
- Work with testers/users and compile test results and produce a professional report and/or deliverable to the customer based on their requirements
- Ability to understand technical issues based on feedback and be able to propose enhancements or fixes
- Ensure testing is completed on time by the deadline of the federal customer and the testing and evaluation is done properly and effectively
- Help create, edit and enhance guidance materials/briefings/documents that help provide steps/process during an evaluation/testing of a tool
- Maintain or support bug and issue tracking in JIRA
- Confirm feedback in some cases of test results based on user evaluation
- Understand business user’s needs and be able to articulate the requirements for a tool/system, which includes how the new features will be used
- Review and provide feedback for requirements doc for federal customer tools
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have:
- 15+ years of Air Traffic Control or air traffic management background and/or as a pilot (civil or military) including five (5) years of management experience required
- Experience with enterprise IT systems and supporting project management/maintenance of the systems/tools during the software development lifecycle (SDLC) required
- Airspace Design experience (preferred)
- Experience working in an agile software development environment (preferred)
- Experience using and/or knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) system/tools such as TARGETS, DME Tool/RNAV-Pro, APWS, IOAA and experience or at least familiarity working with FAA/aviation data such as NFDC, NASR, DOF and/or CIFP (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
COMPENSATION
- Salary: $125,000 to $135,000 annually. Compensation is based on relevant experience and qualifications.
