How do I get a project manager job in Boston?
Focus your search on Boston's strongest hiring sectors: life sciences and biotech in the Longwood and Kendall Square corridors, healthcare IT, construction and real estate development in the Seaport, and financial services in Back Bay and Downtown. Candidates with PMP certification, Agile or Scrum experience, and familiarity with regulated industries stand out. Targeting mid-size firms and contract roles is a practical entry point into the local market.
Which companies hire project managers in Boston?

Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role type. About 40% of project manager openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with desk-based roles in IT and financial services being the most flexible. The most realistic entry path in Boston is targeting coordinator or associate project manager roles at the city's large healthcare systems, biotech companies, and university-affiliated research institutions, which frequently hire at the junior level. Completing a PMP or CAPM certification, even without years of formal experience, signals commitment and helps in Boston's credentialing-conscious industries.
