Who's Hiring

Psychiatric Nurse Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a psychiatric nurse job in Chicago?
Focus your search on Chicago's large academic medical systems, county health network, and the network of federally qualified community health centers serving the South and West sides. Inpatient psychiatric units, crisis stabilization programs, and integrated behavioral health clinics hire regularly. Candidates with experience in de-escalation, psychopharmacology, or dual-diagnosis care stand out in this market, as do those familiar with Chicago's high-acuity urban patient population.
Which companies hire psychiatric nurses in Chicago?
Companies currently hiring psychiatric nurses in Chicago include WP Psych, Talkiatry, and SonderMind, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The local market is anchored by large health systems, specialty psychiatric hospitals, and Cook County's public health network, alongside a growing number of outpatient behavioral health groups.
Are there remote psychiatric nurse jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though remote roles are limited for hands-on inpatient or crisis work, they do exist in telepsychiatry triage, utilization review, and care coordination. About 50% of psychiatric nurse openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. Telepsychiatry platforms and insurance-side case management roles offer the most remote flexibility for Chicago-based psychiatric nurses.
How can I get a psychiatric nurse job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is a new-graduate residency or nurse internship within one of the city's major health systems, several of which run behavioral health cohorts specifically. Community mental health centers on the South and West sides, along with school-based mental health programs through Chicago Public Schools, regularly hire nurses newer to psychiatric settings. Volunteering with crisis hotlines or completing a psychiatric clinical rotation at a Chicago-area hospital strengthens any entry-level application.
