Registered Nurse Jobs in Baltimore: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a registered nurse job in Baltimore?
Baltimore's hiring market centers on its large academic medical systems, community hospitals, and specialty care networks, with the strongest demand in critical care, oncology, and emergency settings. Candidates who hold specialty certifications like CCRN or OCN stand out, as do those with experience in high-acuity units. Applying directly to hospital systems in East Baltimore and the Midtown corridor gives you the best concentration of openings.
Which companies hire registered nurses in Baltimore?
Companies currently hiring registered nurses in Baltimore include US Department of Veterans Affairs, Fresenius Medical Care, and Faculty Physicians, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Baltimore's employer mix skews heavily toward large academic medical centers, regional hospital networks, and specialty care facilities, many of which hire continuously across multiple units and experience levels.
Are there remote registered nurse jobs in Baltimore?
Yes, though remote opportunities are limited for bedside and procedural roles, which require on-site presence by nature. About 33% of registered nurse openings tied to Baltimore are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, concentrated in care coordination, utilization review, and telephonic case management. Baltimore's insurance and managed care employers are among the more active hirers for those remote-compatible functions.
How can I get a registered nurse job in Baltimore with little or no experience?
The most direct path for new graduates in Baltimore is applying to nurse residency programs at the city's large academic medical systems, which are designed specifically for new RNs and rotate through multiple clinical settings. Long-term care facilities and outpatient clinics in neighborhoods like West Baltimore and Highlandtown also hire entry-level RNs at higher rates than acute care. A BSN, strong clinical rotation performance, and any Baltimore-area preceptorship experience all strengthen your application locally.
Which industries hire the most registered nurses in Baltimore?
Most registered nurse openings in Baltimore sit in Education and Healthcare & Medical Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Baltimore's status as a hub for world-renowned academic medical institutions, combined with a dense network of community hospitals and outpatient specialty centers, keeps healthcare consistently the dominant driver of local registered nurse demand.
