INTRODUCTION
The Department of Orthopaedics and Physical Medicine is hiring a physical medicine and rehabilitation provider as a faculty member in our physical medicine division. This hire will serve and support all missions in the department with clinical, research, and teaching responsibilities. The physical medicine and rehabilitation physician will increase patient access to our physical medicine spasticity patient population. Strategically, the physical medicine and rehabilitation will travel to our ambulatory and outreach clinics in South Carolina.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Department of Orthopaedics and Physical Medicine has 38 Faculty members serving the clinical, research, and education missions. The Department delivers the region’s most comprehensive range of musculoskeletal services, encompassing every orthopaedic subspecialty. We treat more than 14,000 patients each year with the most innovative technology and sophisticated procedures.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- M.D. or equivalent
The preferred candidate will have a robust clinical background as well as a sincere interest in both education and research and possess education experience. - Possess good finger dexterity. (Continuous)
- Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions. (Continuous)
- Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs., unassisted. (Infrequent)
- Ability to lift objects, up to 15 lbs., from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted. (Infrequent)
- Ability to lower objects, up to 15 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted. (Infrequent)
- Ability to push/pull objects, up to 15 lbs., unassisted. (Infrequent)
- Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous)
- Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Frequent)
- Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Frequent)
- Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous)
- Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous)
- Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous)
- Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Frequent)
