The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates (The League) is seeking a full-time Manager of Advocacy Engagement to join our Advocacy team. We're looking for a highly organized, collaborative professional with exceptional communication skills who can effectively manage complex projects, balance competing priorities, and clearly articulate impact, context, and program rationale. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, exercising sound judgment, assessing risk and escalation needs, and partnering with colleagues across the organization to drive meaningful advocacy engagement.
If you're someone who can translate strategy into action, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results across complex initiatives-and you enjoy collaborating with diverse stakeholders such as nonprofit partners, financial institutions, and system-level organizations-this role may be a great fit. Apply today to help drive meaningful impact across the credit union movement.
The League provides a platform for advocacy, collaboration, and innovation, representing nearly 400 credit unions in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia and their more than 33 million members, and over $467 billion in assets. The League advances and supports credit unions through advocacy, engagement, Foundation resources, and LEVERAGE products and services.
As the Manager of Advocacy Engagement, you will play a key role in advancing the credit union movement by educating and engaging credit unions on the importance of political and grassroots advocacy. You will develop and execute grassroots engagement strategies, including credit union outreach, educational programs, advocacy campaigns, and calls to action that drive participation and achieve departmental engagement goals. Working closely with the Senior Director of Advocacy Engagement, you will support fundraising strategy, execution, and operational processes while collaborating with state and federal lobbyists to coordinate advocacy efforts, mobilize advocates, advance legislative priorities, and increase PAC participation. You will also support legislative initiatives at both the state and federal levels. This highly collaborative role requires frequent interaction with credit unions throughout The League's footprint in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia.
In This Role, You Will:
- Assisting with advocacy events and activities, coordinating calls to action and mobilization efforts across the footprint.
- Preparing and delivering presentations to member credit unions that emphasize legislative priorities, the importance of grassroots advocacy, and the value of electing future decision-makers.
- Supporting opportunities to increase grassroots development that engages credit unions with lawmakers.
- Managing donor acknowledgement strategy.
- Supporting accurate tracking of PAC contributions and related activities in coordination with the Advocacy team.
- Maintaining the grassroots and fundraising database to ensure data is accurate and updated.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with credit unions across The League's footprint.
- Performing other duties and special projects as assigned.
What you need to be qualified for this job: (see full job description attached)
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Political Science, Communications, or a related field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in communications, public relations, advocacy, credit union advocacy, government affairs, or a related field.

- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and drive projects from initiation through completion.
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to effectively communicate information to groups and stakeholders.
Work Schedule:
As a Manager of Advocacy Engagement, you will regularly travel throughout The League's footprint in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia to support advocacy initiatives, member engagement, and industry events. This role requires overnight travel, a valid driver's license, and preferably access to reliable personal transportation.

Tips for Your Remote Developer Advocacy Job Search
Show code alongside your writing
Developer advocacy hiring managers expect a portfolio that mixes technical output with communication. Link to repos, conference talk recordings, and blog posts that demonstrate you can ship code and explain it clearly to a developer audience.
Tailor your resume to the audience tier
Roles targeting enterprise developers weight different skills than those targeting hobbyists or students. Read the job description for phrases like 'enterprise SDK', 'open-source community', or 'hackathon programs' and mirror that language directly in your resume.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists developer advocacy openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Filter by company developer product maturity
A startup with a new API needs advocates who can build community from scratch. A mature platform needs advocates who can scale content and enablement. Target your search toward companies whose product stage matches where you do your best work.
Prepare a technical talk or demo for interviews
Most developer advocacy interview loops include a live presentation or demo exercise. Practice a five-to-ten minute technical talk on a topic you know deeply so you can demonstrate clarity, audience awareness, and the ability to field live questions.
Negotiate for conference and travel budget
Developer advocacy compensation packages often include a discretionary budget for speaking and community events. Ask about this budget explicitly during the offer stage, since it directly affects your ability to do the job and build an industry profile.
Remote Developer Advocacy Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote developer advocacy job?
Target companies that already run distributed teams, since they hire remotely by default and know how to onboard someone they never meet in person. Remote developer advocacy employers screen hard for self-direction and clear written communication on top of the core skills, so show evidence you can own work without someone over your shoulder. Apply to the openings above that match your experience.
Which companies hire remote developer advocacys?
Employers currently hiring remote developer advocacys include Baker Tilly Canada, The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates, and Illumio, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first firms and large companies running distributed teams post the most remote developer advocacy roles.
Can you get a remote developer advocacy job with no experience?
Yes, but it is harder than an on-site role, because remote work expects you to operate independently from the start. Entry-level remote developer advocacy openings do exist, especially at remote-first companies, and a portfolio of real work helps more than a long resume. Applying broadly to the roles that fit improves your odds.
Do you need a degree for remote developer advocacy jobs?
Not always. Many employers hire remote developer advocacys on demonstrated skills and prior work rather than a specific degree, though some larger companies still prefer one. Showing relevant results matters more than a credential for most remote developer advocacy roles.
Which industries hire the most remote developer advocacys?
Remote developer advocacy roles concentrate in Accounting & Auditing, Technology & Software, and Automotive, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors run distributed teams and hire developer advocacys remotely most consistently.
