INTRODUCTION
Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experimental, specimen preparations and experimental procedures for the purpose of research. Utilizes specialized laboratory equipment and analysis of data generated by this equipment.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to the general responsibilities of a RA I, troubleshoots procedures if experimental results are unexpected or quality of specimens is poor.
- May suggest alternative routine procedures to crosscheck own findings.
- Performs techniques typically required for the laboratory/study.
- RA I plus. Assists with planning specific research procedures, coordinating schedules of experiments and procedures. Develops and troubleshoots new techniques specific to the lab.
- RA I plus. Maintains accurate records of results and methodologies into a log of work performed. Compiles and helps analyze data, preparing charts, graphs, and results of studies.
- RA I plus. Demonstrates basic laboratory techniques to laboratory assistants and technicians, research fellows, residents and students. Contributes to the team within and between departments and organizations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A bachelor's degree in addition to two years of relevant research experience; or, a master's degree in addition to one year of relevant research experience.
