Roles concentrate around the Washington University Medical Campus, the Cortex Innovation Community, and BJC HealthCare facilities. Candidates with clinical trial experience, peer-reviewed publication credits, or familiarity with IRB protocols tend to move faster through hiring in this market. Connecting with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Missouri affiliate chapter also opens doors locally.
Which companies hire research dietitians in St. Louis?

St. Louis draws a mix of academic medical systems, specialty hospital networks, and food and nutrition manufacturers that maintain dedicated nutrition research teams.

About 50% of research dietitian openings tied to St. Louis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with flexibility most common in data analysis, grant writing, and protocol development functions rather than hands-on research roles.
How can I get a research dietitian job in St. Louis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in St. Louis is a research assistant or dietetic technician role within one of the city's large academic hospital systems or university nutrition departments, which regularly onboard early-career candidates for study coordination and data support work. Washington University in St. Louis, Saint Louis University, and SSM Health all run clinical nutrition research programs that hire entry-level staff. Completing a supervised internship with a St. Louis institution and volunteering on active IRB-approved studies strengthens a candidate's profile significantly before pursuing a full research dietitian title.
