Research Dietitian Jobs in Portland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a research dietitian job in Portland?
Portland's strongest hiring comes from academic medical centers and public health-focused nonprofits, with a secondary cluster in food-systems and nutrition-science organizations tied to Oregon Health and Science University's research enterprise. Candidates who can demonstrate IRB-approved study experience, grant-writing involvement, or clinical trial coordination stand out locally. Targeting the South Waterfront medical corridor and Northeast Portland's community health sector gives you the highest concentration of active openings.
Which companies hire research dietitians in Portland?
Portland research dietitian roles are posted by Esri, Autodesk, and Health Loft and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Portland's hiring mix leans heavily toward academic medical systems, federally funded community health centers, and food-science research firms with ties to Oregon's agriculture and sustainability sectors.
Are there remote research dietitian jobs in Portland?
Yes, though research dietitian roles are less remote-friendly than desk-only positions because many involve in-person data collection, participant assessments, or lab work. About 33% of research dietitian openings tied to Portland are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in analysis-heavy and grant-coordination functions. Protocol development, data review, and literature synthesis roles are the most likely to offer a hybrid arrangement locally.
How can I get a research dietitian job in Portland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Portland is a research coordinator or dietetic intern role at one of the city's academic medical or community health organizations, where supervised research exposure leads directly to dietitian-track positions. OHSU-affiliated programs, Multnomah County Health Department initiatives, and federally qualified health centers in East Portland regularly take early-career candidates. Completing a supervised practice rotation with a research component and volunteering on a community nutrition study sharpens your candidacy in Portland's evidence-focused hiring environment.
Which industries hire the most research dietitians in Portland?
Most research dietitian openings in Portland sit in Technology & Software and Healthcare & Medical Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Portland's position as a regional health research hub, anchored by its academic medical infrastructure and a robust network of federally funded nutrition programs, keeps demand in those sectors consistently active.
