Research Dietitian Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a research dietitian in Oregon?
To work as a research dietitian in Oregon, you must hold an active license issued by the Oregon Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitians, which requires passing the Commission on Dietetic Registration exam and completing an accredited supervised practice program. Most research roles also require at minimum a master's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related field. Academic and public health employers in Oregon frequently prefer candidates with graduate-level research training or postdoctoral experience.
Which companies hire research dietitians in Oregon?
Companies currently hiring research dietitians in Oregon include DaVita, PeaceHealth, and Grande Ronde Hospital, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Oregon's concentration of academic medical centers and land-grant university programs means research dietitian openings tend to cluster within institutions that combine clinical care with funded nutrition research initiatives.
Which Oregon cities have the most research dietitian jobs?
The Oregon cities with the most research dietitian openings are Portland, Eugene, and Medford. Portland leads because of the concentration of major health systems and OHSU's research enterprise, while Corvallis and Eugene are driven by Oregon State University and the University of Oregon, both of which support active nutrition science and public health research programs.
Are there remote research dietitian jobs in Oregon?
Yes, though they are more limited than in purely desk-based fields, since research dietitian roles often involve direct participant contact, lab work, or clinical data collection. About 21% of research dietitian openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the role's mixed nature. The portions of the work most likely to be done remotely include data analysis, manuscript preparation, grant writing, and protocol development.
How can I get hired as a research dietitian in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a dietetic internship or graduate research assistantship at an Oregon institution before targeting research roles. Oregon State University and Oregon Health & Science University both offer graduate nutrition programs where students assist on funded research projects, building the protocols and data management experience employers expect. Applying for entry-level research coordinator or clinical nutrition support roles at PeaceHealth or Legacy Health, then moving laterally into the research track, is another well-worn route. Holding your Oregon dietitian license from day one gives you a competitive edge over candidates still completing their supervised hours.
Where can I find and apply to research dietitian jobs in Oregon?
You can find and apply to research dietitian jobs in Oregon on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oregon openings in one place. Search for roles that match your experience level, preferred location, and specialty area, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
