Research Dietitian Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a research dietitian in Texas?
You become a research dietitian in Texas by first earning at least a bachelor's degree in dietetics or nutrition, completing an accredited supervised practice program, and passing the Commission on Dietetic Registration exam to earn the Registered Dietitian credential. You must also obtain a Texas state dietitian license through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians. Most research positions additionally require a master's or doctoral degree and hands-on experience in a clinical or academic research setting.
Which companies hire research dietitians in Texas?
Texas research dietitian roles are posted by EmVenio Research, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, and University of Texas at Austin and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Texas's concentration of major academic medical systems and university health science centers makes it one of the more active states for clinical nutrition research hiring year-round.
Which Texas cities have the most research dietitian jobs?
El Paso, San Antonio, and Austin have the most research dietitian openings in Texas right now. Houston leads because of its large cluster of academic medical centers and cancer research institutions, Dallas follows with major integrated health systems headquartered there, and San Antonio draws openings through its military medical research infrastructure and university health programs.
Are there remote research dietitian jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 100% of research dietitian openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most clinical research environments. The parts of the role most likely to shift remote are data analysis, grant writing, and manuscript preparation rather than participant-facing research activities.
How can I get hired as a research dietitian in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a dietetic internship or research assistant role at a Texas academic medical center or university nutrition department, where you can build direct research exposure. Institutions like UT Southwestern, Texas Children's Hospital, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston periodically offer new-graduate research coordinator positions or post-doctoral nutrition fellowships. Coming in from a clinical dietitian or food service management role is also common, especially if you have any coursework or project work in research methods, IRB protocols, or data analysis. A master's degree and any published or presented research, even from a thesis project, meaningfully strengthens a Texas application with little professional experience.
Where can I find and apply to research dietitian jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to research dietitian jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across academic medical centers, health systems, and research institutions. Search the listings to find roles that match your credentials and experience, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
