Are there remote research jobs in Grand Rapids?
Yes, but with limits: hands-on lab, clinical, and field research roles are almost always on-site, while analytical, literature review, and data-focused research positions are far more remote-friendly. About 0% of research openings tied to Grand Rapids are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated among roles in health informatics, policy research, and market research functions tied to the region's corporate headquarters downtown.
How can I get a research job in Grand Rapids with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Grand Rapids is a research assistant or lab technician role at one of the Medical Mile institutions or at Van Andel Institute, which regularly brings on early-career candidates for support positions. Grand Valley State University and Aquinas College graduates also find traction through local internship pipelines that feed into full-time research openings. Volunteering on clinical studies or taking on contract data collection work builds the documented experience that Grand Rapids hiring managers look for in entry-level applicants.
