How do I get a research job in Providence?
Focus your search on Providence's strongest hiring sectors: academic research at the city's universities, clinical and translational research at its teaching hospitals, and life sciences at the biomedical corridor anchored near the Jewelry District. Are there remote research jobs in Providence?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the type of research work. Bench science and clinical roles require on-site presence, while data analysis, literature review, and research coordination positions are far more remote-friendly. About 0% of research openings tied to Providence are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the highest remote share concentrated in health services research and social science roles.
How can I get a research job in Providence with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Providence is a research assistant or coordinator role at one of the city's university hospitals or Brown University-affiliated labs, where new graduates are regularly hired for clinical data collection and study coordination. Community health organizations in the Olneyville and South Side neighborhoods also hire entry-level research associates for public health studies.
