Mid Level Research Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level research manager job?
Position yourself around project ownership rather than task completion. Highlight studies you led from design through delivery, decisions you made independently, and any experience coordinating with cross-functional teams or guiding less experienced colleagues. A portfolio of research outputs, a clear methodology specialization, and demonstrated ability to translate findings into actionable recommendations will set your application apart at this level.
Which companies hire mid level research managers?
Companies hiring mid level research managers right now include CVS Health, Amazon, and Emory University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers large enterprises with dedicated research functions, mid-size consumer and technology companies building out insights teams, and research or consulting firms scaling their project capacity.
Are there remote mid level research manager jobs?
Yes, and flexibility is common at this level. About 21% of mid level research manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how research workflows have adapted well to distributed teams. Fully on-site roles do exist, particularly in industries where in-person stakeholder collaboration or lab-based research is central to the work.
How do I move up to a mid level research manager role?
The path from entry level to mid level in research management runs through increasing ownership and demonstrated impact. Early-career researchers grow by taking full responsibility for study designs, building proficiency in quantitative and qualitative methods, and producing deliverables that influence real decisions. Consistent experience managing a project from brief to final report, combined with measurable contributions to team or organizational goals, signals readiness for mid level responsibilities.
