• Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.
• Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator.
• May be required to participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation.
• Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.
• Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations.
• Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
• Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator.
• Collects and maintains health records, testing data, shipment documentation, and research data using departmental databases and Microsoft Office applications.
• Performs laboratory tests, supports research experiments, and assists with laboratory operations, including inventory management, equipment maintenance, and supply ordering.Provides animal husbandry support, managed breeding, health screening, preventative care, and quarantine-related activities as needed.
• Collaborates with researchers, veterinary staff, and external partners to support research, animal care, and transportation programs.Provides backup support for Quality Assurance and Diagnostic Laboratory functions.
• Participates in weekend, holiday, and emergency coverage as needed and performs other related duties in support of DAR operations.
• May work with potentially hazardous materials and perform physical activities including prolonged standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Coordinates colony health surveillance, animal health monitoring, diagnostic testing, and animal shipping activities, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
