Mid Level Security Program Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level security program manager job?
Position yourself around ownership, not just participation. Highlight programs you led rather than supported, decisions you made independently, and measurable outcomes like reduced risk exposure or faster incident response. Tailor your resume to show cross-functional coordination and communication with stakeholders. Mid level roles reward candidates who demonstrate they can manage ambiguity and drive a program forward without constant direction.
Which companies hire mid level security program managers?
Companies hiring mid level security program managers right now include Amazon, Google, and Stripe, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers large enterprises with dedicated security functions, government contractors, and technology companies scaling their compliance and risk programs.
Are there remote mid level security program manager jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid options are common at this level. About 50% of mid level security program manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves documentation, stakeholder communication, and cross-team coordination that translates well to distributed environments. On-site roles tend to concentrate in regulated industries with physical security requirements.
How do I move up to a mid level security program manager role?
Growth from entry level into mid level comes from progressively owning more of a program rather than executing tasks assigned to you. That means volunteering to lead a workstream, taking responsibility for a compliance initiative, and building a record of measurable impact. Deepening a specialization, such as third-party risk, security awareness, or incident response, also signals readiness for mid level scope and responsibility.
Which industries hire the most mid level security program managers?
Mid Level security program manager roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Retail, and E-Commerce & Online Marketplaces, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate under significant regulatory requirements, handle sensitive data at scale, or manage complex vendor ecosystems that require structured, ongoing security program oversight.
