Who We Are
Imprint is building a platform that helps the world’s best brands grow the lifetime value of their customers. We started with co-branded credit cards and rebuilt them to be smarter, more rewarding, and brand-first. We partner with companies like Crate & Barrel, Rakuten, Booking.com, H-E-B, Fetch, and Shell to launch modern credit programs that deepen loyalty, unlock savings, and drive growth. But the card is just the beginning. We combine advanced payments infrastructure, intelligent underwriting, and deep customer data to predict what each customer will do next and act on it, so brands can offer powerful financial products without becoming a bank.
Co-branded cards alone account for over $300 billion in U.S. annual spend, and most still run on legacy bank rails. Imprint is the modern alternative: flexible, embeddable, and built for how people actually pay today. Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Thrive Capital, Ribbit, and Khosla Ventures, we’re building a world-class team to redefine how people pay and how brands grow. If you want to move fast, solve hard problems, and own real outcomes, we want to meet you.
The backend is core to this expansion: every transaction, every credit decision, and every rewards calculation runs on the financial infrastructure we build. At the Staff level, you'll provide both the technical and cultural leverage that helps the team and the systems scale together.
The Opportunity
Drive architecture and implementation of critical financial systems: from transaction authorization and ledger accounting, to credit decisioning, to rewards engines and payment processing. You write code, make design decisions, and own outcomes.
Shape net-new products from ideation through delivery: as Imprint expands into new financial products and a deeper rewards platform, you'll define technical approaches for systems that don't exist yet while evolving the ones that do.
Define foundational platform direction: set the technical vision for shared services, API infrastructure, and developer tooling that make the entire engineering team faster and more reliable.
Leverage AI across the stack: from prototyping to testing to production code, learning how to leverage AI tools is a core consideration for how we work.
Drive alignment across a wide cross-functional surface: product, design, infrastructure, compliance, solutions engineering, and brand partners. You bring engineering perspective into the room where decisions are made.
Raise the technical and cultural bar: mentor and sponsor engineers across the spectrum of seniority, foster psychological safety, and drive technical rigor in how the team designs, reviews, and ships.

You model the culture you want to see: psychological safety, intellectual honesty, and high standards for craft
You communicate clearly at every level, from pairing on implementation details to presenting technical strategy to leadership
Proficiency in Go (our primary backend language), or a similar language with willingness to ramp quickly
Experience ensuring data consistency and transactional integrity across distributed systems
Strong with relational databases: schema design, migrations, and query performance tuning
You drive technical alignment across product managers, business stakeholders, and engineers of all levels.
Experience using AI tools (code assistants, MCP servers, agentic workflows) to accelerate development, or genuine enthusiasm to adopt them
Startup experience a plus
We don't expect every candidate to match every bullet. If you're excited about what we're building and confident you can contribute, we'd love to talk.

Senior Level Senior Backend Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level senior backend developer job?
Employers at this level look for engineers who have owned systems end-to-end, not just contributed to them. Demonstrable experience designing distributed systems, leading architectural decisions, and mentoring junior engineers carries more weight than any single technology. A portfolio of measurable outcomes, such as latency improvements, reliability wins, or platform migrations you led, gives candidates a concrete edge over those who list skills alone.
Which companies hire senior level senior backend developers?
Companies hiring senior level senior backend developers right now include Databricks, Citi, and GEICO, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of high-growth technology companies, established enterprises modernizing their infrastructure, and well-funded startups building core platform capabilities.
Are there remote senior level senior backend developer jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid availability is especially strong at this experience level. About 43% of senior level senior backend developer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting strong employer demand for experienced engineers who can operate independently without close supervision. On-site roles tend to concentrate at companies with security-sensitive or latency-critical infrastructure requirements.
What makes a senior backend developer role senior level?
Senior level backend roles are defined by scope and ownership rather than task completion. Engineers at this stage are expected to set technical direction, make architectural tradeoffs with long-term consequences, and take accountability for the reliability and scalability of the systems they build. Mentoring mid-level and junior engineers, influencing cross-functional decisions, and driving projects from ambiguous problem to shipped solution are all standard expectations at this level.
Which industries hire the most senior level senior backend developers?
Senior level senior backend developer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Investment & Asset Management, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate complex, high-traffic systems where architectural experience and platform ownership directly affect product performance and business outcomes.
