Senior Corporate Accountant Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior corporate accountant job in Chicago?
Focus on Chicago's heaviest hiring sectors: financial services firms clustered in the Loop, insurance carriers along Wacker Drive, and corporate headquarters in River North and Fulton Market. Candidates with consolidation experience, public accounting backgrounds from a Big Four or regional firm, and familiarity with multi-entity structures stand out. Networking through the Illinois CPA Society's Chicago chapter events also opens doors that job boards alone don't.
Which companies hire senior corporate accountants in Chicago?
Employers hiring senior corporate accountants in Chicago right now include Google, Fitch Ratings, and PLS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's market is anchored by large financial institutions, global insurance companies, and Fortune 500 corporate headquarters, all of which run substantial internal accounting teams.
Are there remote senior corporate accountant jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though availability depends on the employer's structure since senior corporate accountants often handle close processes and cross-functional coordination that many companies prefer on-site. About 17% of senior corporate accountant openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at large Loop-based headquarters. Consolidation, reporting, and analysis tasks are the functions most frequently approved for remote days.
How can I get a senior corporate accountant job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is starting as a staff or senior accountant at one of Chicago's mid-size public accounting firms, then transitioning into a corporate role after two to three years. Regional firms serving Chicago's manufacturing, real estate, and professional services sectors regularly hire entry-level staff who later move into corporate positions. Pursuing your CPA while in a public accounting role and building close experience on audits makes the jump to a Chicago corporate team much more direct.
Which industries hire the most senior corporate accountants in Chicago?
The sectors hiring the most senior corporate accountants in Chicago are Technology & Software, Artificial Intelligence, and Banking & Financial Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's dense concentration of insurance carriers, commodity trading firms, and global corporate headquarters creates sustained, year-round demand that drives the city's strong hiring volumes for this role.
