How do I get a social services specialist job in Omaha?
Focus your search on Omaha's largest hiring sectors: county and state human services offices, Federally Qualified Health Centers in South Omaha, and the city's established nonprofit corridor in Midtown. Case management and benefits navigation experience stands out locally, as does bilingual Spanish proficiency given South Omaha's large Latino community. Applying directly to Douglas County Health Department and community action agencies gives you a strong starting point.
Which companies hire social services specialists in Omaha?

Omaha's hiring landscape includes county government agencies, regional hospital systems, and a dense network of nonprofit human services organizations serving the greater metro area.
Are there remote social services specialist jobs in Omaha?
Yes, though remote opportunities are limited because most social services specialist work involves direct client contact, home visits, or in-person case coordination. About 14% of social services specialist openings tied to Omaha are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in administrative case review, data entry, and intake coordination roles that do not require field work.
How can I get a social services specialist job in Omaha with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Omaha is through community health worker or case aide roles at FQHCs and county human services offices, which often hire candidates with a related bachelor's degree and no prior professional experience. Omaha nonprofits such as food banks, refugee resettlement agencies, and domestic violence shelters regularly bring on entry-level staff and AmeriCorps members who move into specialist roles within one to two years.
