6 months contract with potential extensions
We are currently seeking an experienced Software Architect to support the design and development of next-generation software solutions within a fast-paced, agile engineering environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong architecture background combined with substantial hands-on development experience. This position requires approximately 50% hands-on software development, with a strong emphasis on Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated quality practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, design, and implement scalable technical solutions.
- Collaborate with agile engineering teams to establish technical direction and architecture.
- Remain approximately 50% hands-on with software development and production coding.
- Design and document domain models, APIs, and application architecture.
- Develop and maintain API schemas, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Design APIs integrating systems across independent domains.
- Contribute to the Application Development Life Cycle (ADLC).
- Develop production code, automation, and supporting tools.
- Translate complex technical solutions into UML diagrams using Enterprise Architect, Mural, or similar tools.
- Promote TDD, automated quality gates, CI/CD, and software engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Software Architecture.
- Strong and demonstrable TDD experience is mandatory.
- Proven experience with approximately 50% hands-on development.
- Strong API and backend development experience.
- Hands-on experience with Node.js and/or Java.
- Experience with Jenkins and Docker.
- Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems architecture.
- Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
- Experience designing APIs for integration between independent systems/domains.
- Experience with ADLC/Application Development Life Cycle.
- Experience creating UML and architecture diagrams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced development environment.
Technology Environment
Node.js, Java, React, MERN, GraphQL, DSQL, SQL/NoSQL, Docker, Jenkins, REST APIs, CI/CD, TDD, Domain-Driven Design, Microservices, and Distributed Architecture.
Experience with SOX-compliant systems, E-commerce, or Cybersecurity will be considered a plus.
