Software Design Engineer Jobs in Phoenix: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a software design engineer job in Phoenix?
Phoenix software design engineer roles are concentrated in Tempe, Chandler, and the Camelback Corridor, with strong hiring in semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace, and enterprise software. Candidates who highlight embedded systems experience, hardware-software integration, or FPGA design stand out in the local market. Engaging with the Arizona Technology Council and targeting defense contractors and chip manufacturers in the East Valley gives Phoenix-based applicants a concrete edge over generalist software candidates.
Which companies hire software design engineers in Phoenix?
Employers hiring software design engineers in Phoenix right now include Horrocks, Intel, and Intel Corporation, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Phoenix's mix of semiconductor foundries, aerospace primes, and enterprise software firms means openings range from highly specialized hardware-adjacent roles to full-stack product engineering positions across the metro.
Are there remote software design engineer jobs in Phoenix?
Yes, though availability depends on the specialty. About 56% of software design engineer openings tied to Phoenix are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote options more common in product and application engineering than in embedded systems or hardware-adjacent roles. Phoenix-based defense contractors and semiconductor firms typically require on-site work, while enterprise software employers in Tempe and Scottsdale are more likely to offer hybrid arrangements.
How can I get a software design engineer job in Phoenix with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Phoenix is targeting associate or junior software engineer roles at mid-size enterprise software companies in Tempe or Scottsdale, which hire more entry-level candidates than the large defense and semiconductor employers. Internship programs at Arizona State University-affiliated research partners and local semiconductor firms also open doors. Building portfolio projects that demonstrate hardware-software integration or embedded work gives Phoenix applicants a direct edge in a market where those skills are consistently in demand.
Which industries hire the most software design engineers in Phoenix?
Phoenix software design engineer roles concentrate in Construction & Real Estate, Government & Public Sector, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Phoenix's position as a major semiconductor manufacturing hub, combined with a large aerospace and defense presence in the East Valley, means technical software design skills tied to hardware systems are especially in demand locally.
