Sre Engineer Jobs in Arizona: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sre engineer in Arizona?
Becoming a sre engineer in Arizona does not require a state-issued license. Most employers hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, combined with hands-on systems or software development experience. Earning cloud certifications from AWS, Google, or Microsoft strengthens a candidacy significantly in the Arizona market, where major tech and defense employers treat those credentials as a practical qualifier alongside a degree.
How much do sre engineers make in Arizona?
Sre engineers in Arizona earn a median of about $129,690 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,740 for the lowest 10% to over $178,500 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sre engineers in Arizona?
Employers hiring sre engineers in Arizona right now include CVS Health, Infosys, and Cognizant, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Arizona's concentration of large financial institutions, semiconductor manufacturers, and aerospace and defense contractors means sre engineers here often work on high-availability systems with strict reliability and compliance requirements.
Which Arizona cities have the most sre engineer jobs?
The cities with the most sre engineer openings in Arizona are Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Chandler. Phoenix drives the bulk of demand as the state's primary corporate and technology hub, home to large financial services campuses and cloud-forward enterprises, while Scottsdale and Tempe add significant volume through technology firms, fintech startups, and university-adjacent innovation centers that rely on platform reliability teams.
Are there remote sre engineer jobs in Arizona?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 83% of sre engineer openings tied to Arizona are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the role's fundamentally digital nature. The parts of the role most commonly performed fully remotely include on-call incident response, infrastructure automation, and monitoring configuration, while roles involving co-located data centers or on-premises hardware tend to require at least some in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a sre engineer in Arizona with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior systems, DevOps, or cloud operations role with an Arizona employer that offers structured rotation programs, such as those run by Intel's campus operations in Chandler or the technology development programs at American Express in Phoenix. Candidates coming from adjacent roles like IT operations analyst, systems administrator, or software developer in test have a strong footing. A cloud certification, a GitHub portfolio showing infrastructure-as-code or monitoring projects, and familiarity with on-call tooling all give early-career candidates a meaningful edge in Arizona hiring processes.
