Software Engineer Jobs in Tempe: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a software engineer job in Tempe?
Focus your search on Tempe's three strongest hiring sectors: fintech companies clustered near the Town Lake corridor, semiconductor and chip design firms along Price Road, and enterprise software teams affiliated with Arizona State University's research programs. Candidates with backend, embedded systems, or cloud infrastructure experience stand out. Applying directly to roles posted by mid-size tech firms and established financial technology companies gives you the best foothold in Tempe's market.
Which companies hire software engineers in Tempe?
Employers hiring software engineers in Tempe right now include GoDaddy, CNH Industrial, and U-Haul, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tempe attracts a mix of fintech firms, semiconductor companies, and enterprise software teams, many drawn by proximity to Arizona State University's engineering talent pipeline.
Are there remote software engineer jobs in Tempe?
Yes, software engineering is one of the more remote-friendly disciplines, particularly for backend, full-stack, and cloud roles. About 75% of software engineer openings tied to Tempe are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader flexibility across the sector. Roles in embedded systems, hardware-adjacent development, and on-site infrastructure teams tend to require a physical presence in Tempe.
How can I get a software engineer job in Tempe with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tempe is targeting early-career roles at companies with established university recruiting pipelines, particularly firms that partner directly with Arizona State University. Look for junior developer, associate engineer, and QA automation roles at mid-size fintech and SaaS companies in the Town Lake and Price Road areas. Building a portfolio with public projects and contributing to open-source work gives you a concrete edge with Tempe hiring managers who review candidates without extensive professional history.
