Software Engineer Jobs in Phoenix: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a software engineer job in Phoenix?
Focus your search on Phoenix's three strongest hiring sectors: fintech and payments companies concentrated in Tempe and Scottsdale, healthcare technology firms clustered around the medical corridor near Downtown, and enterprise software shops in Chandler and Gilbert. Candidates with cloud platform experience, particularly AWS or Azure, and familiarity with agile delivery stand out in this market. Engaging directly with Phoenix's active tech meetup scene also surfaces roles before they're widely posted.
Which companies hire software engineers in Phoenix?
Phoenix software engineer roles are posted by Honeywell Aerospace, American Express, and Real Time Consulting and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Phoenix's employer mix is broad, covering established financial services companies, regional health systems with in-house engineering teams, and a growing cluster of Series B and C startups headquartered in Tempe and the East Valley.
Are there remote software engineer jobs in Phoenix?
Yes, software engineering is one of the more remote-friendly occupations by nature, particularly for roles focused on backend development, cloud infrastructure, and data engineering. About 84% of software engineer openings tied to Phoenix are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how widely distributed teams have become across the sector. Hybrid arrangements are especially common at Phoenix's larger fintech and healthcare tech employers, who often require occasional on-site presence for sprint planning or team offsites.
How can I get a software engineer job in Phoenix with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Phoenix is targeting the city's mid-size fintech and SaaS companies, which routinely hire junior engineers and associate developers into structured onboarding programs. Contract-to-hire roles at Phoenix-based staffing firms that serve tech clients in Tempe and Chandler are another concrete option. Building a portfolio of deployed projects, contributing to open-source work, and attending Phoenix-area hackathons organized by local tech communities helps entry-level candidates get in front of local hiring managers.
