PAY GRADE: J
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
POSITION OBJECTIVE: This classification requires incumbents to have a higher level knowledge of computer-based applications, information systems and customer support for District staff and parents. Incumbents are responsible for taking calls and providing support regarding IT related software and information system issues and problems, independently resolving higher level issues and communicating with appropriate IT staff regarding more complex issues.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
- Support District instructional technology;
- Research technical issues in response to user inquiries (for the purpose of answering questions, providing data, problem-solving) and support of various instructional information systems;
- Respond to requests (from community members as well as district employees) for technical support for district-supported technologies;
- Assist in creating and distributing support documents to assist users for the purpose of operating district-supported technologies;
- Assist in data transfer from student information system to various instructional data systems with the district;
- Provide instructional data systems reports as needed;
- Work cooperatively with other members of the IT department to serve as a resource to district personnel for the purpose of providing customer service;
- Assist in the audit of online professional development data for the purpose of accuracy and validation of employee information in the current systems;
- Supports communication and reporting data between Curriculum, Professional Development and Human Resources departments;
- Support District custom applications;
- Support student information system gradebook and teacher/student/parent communications;
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with all district personnel in the development of online training courses;
- Upgrades and increases knowledge of current software systems by attending training or requesting additional support from administration for the purpose of professional development;
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities;
- Working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods, and/or coordinating others, and operating within a defined budget.
- Utilization of significant resources from other work units is routinely required to perform the job’s functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (positions in this class typically require):
Vocational training in computer science, electronics, or related field, and two years of related computer repair experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: (positions in this class typically require):
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License.
KNOWLEDGE: (position requirements at entry):
Knowledge of:
- Performing algebra and/or geometry;
- Reading technical information, composing a variety of documents, and/or facilitating group discussions;
- Analyzing situations to define issues and draw conclusions;
- Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: pertinent codes, policies, regulations, and/or laws;
- Computer hardware and software.
SKILLS: (position requirements at entry):
Skill in:
- Performing multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions;
- Operating equipment utilized in position;
- Operating standard office equipment;
- Utilize pertinent software applications (Microsoft Office, especially Excel);
- Support the planning and management of projects, operating and supporting current Windows servers;
- Proficiency in working with SQL databases preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
This job involves traveling within the school district visiting school sites as well as meetings held outside the district.
