Staff Software Engineer Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a staff software engineer job in Los Angeles?
Focus on the sectors that dominate Los Angeles hiring: streaming and media technology in Playa Vista, fintech and insurtech in Century City and Westwood, and e-commerce and logistics tech in the South Bay. Candidates who demonstrate system design depth and cross-functional leadership stand out, since most Los Angeles staff roles carry meaningful scope. Targeting mid-size growth-stage companies alongside the larger tech employers broadens your options considerably.
Which companies hire staff software engineers in Los Angeles?
Employers hiring staff software engineers in Los Angeles right now include Riot Games, Riot Games, and Commure, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. The Los Angeles market is a mix of entertainment technology giants, venture-backed startups, and regional fintech and healthcare technology firms.
Are there remote staff software engineer jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though availability depends on the employer and team structure. About 26% of staff software engineer openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, which reflects the desk-based, collaborative nature of most staff-level engineering work. Backend infrastructure and platform roles tied to media and e-commerce companies in Los Angeles tend to offer the most remote flexibility.
How can I get a staff software engineer job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
