iOS Developer Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ios developer in California?
There is no state-issued license required to work as an ios developer in California. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, though many California companies also hire candidates with a strong portfolio built through bootcamps, self-study, or open-source contributions. Apple Developer Program enrollment and published App Store applications are the credentials that carry the most weight in California hiring.
How much do iOS developers make in California?
IOS developers in California earn a median of about $174,410 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $105,060 for the lowest 10% to over $272,670 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ios developers in California?
Employers hiring ios developers in California right now include Blueprint, Procom Services America, and Apple, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of consumer technology, entertainment, and fintech companies means ios developer demand is spread across both major tech campuses in the Bay Area and large product studios in Los Angeles.
Which California cities have the most ios developer jobs?
San Francisco, Sunnyvale, and Redlands have the most ios developer openings in California. San Francisco and the broader Bay Area drive the largest share of demand because Apple, Google, and a dense cluster of consumer app startups are headquartered there, while Los Angeles draws significant volume from entertainment technology and fintech companies, and San Diego contributes through its growing enterprise software and biotech adjacent mobile development scene.
Are there remote ios developer jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 38% of ios developer openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how naturally suited software development is to distributed work. Roles focused on architecture, SDK development, and feature work tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions requiring close collaboration with hardware or on-device testing teams are more likely to require some on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a ios developer in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building and shipping at least one App Store application to demonstrate practical ability. Large California employers like Apple and Google run structured internship and new-grad programs that hire candidates without professional experience. Entry roles such as associate mobile developer or mobile QA engineer at California product companies and startups are common lateral starting points, and completing Apple's Swift Student Challenge or an accredited coding bootcamp with a California placement network strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
Where can I find and apply to ios developer jobs in California?
You can find and apply to ios developer jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings from employers actively hiring. Find a role that fits your experience and location and apply directly.
