Superior Rigging & Erecting is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer (PE) to support complex crane, heavy lifts, structural steel, temporary works, heavy transportation, and specialty construction projects throughout the Southeast.
This is not a traditional consulting or design-only role. You will work directly with Operations, Project Management, Safety, and Executive Leadership to develop engineered solutions that are successfully executed in the field. As our Engineering & Technical Services function continues to grow, you will have the opportunity to influence engineering standards, mentor future talent, and help shape the future of the department.
What You Will Do
- Develop engineered lift plans, structural calculations, and technical engineering solutions.
- Perform structural analysis for temporary works, lifting systems, crane support systems, and complex loading conditions.
- Evaluate crane configurations, ground bearing pressures, construction sequencing, and means and methods.
- Conduct project site visits to assess constructability, access, and engineering risks.
- Support critical lifts, structural steel erection, machinery installations, and specialty construction activities.
- Serve as Engineer of Record for engineered lifting and structural support activities when required.
- Partner with Operations, Project Management, Estimating, and Safety to develop practical engineering solutions.
- Establish engineering standards, calculation procedures, and technical best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued growth of the Engineering & Technical Services function.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Georgia PE license or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
- Experience supporting structural, industrial, construction, manufacturing, infrastructure, or engineering consulting projects.
- Strong structural analysis, engineering judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience reviewing construction documents and collaborating with field operations.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, RAM, RISA, TEDDS, Bluebeam, or similar engineering software.
- Ability to work in both office and active construction environments.
- Ability to travel periodically throughout the Southeast.
Experience in crane and rigging engineering is preferred but not required. We welcome experienced structural engineers looking to apply their expertise in a unique construction environment.
Why Join Superior Rigging & Erecting?
- Help build a growing Engineering & Technical Services function.
- Work directly with executive leadership and operational decision-makers.
- Solve technically challenging projects that require practical engineering judgment.
- See your engineering solutions implemented in the field.
- Work on complex projects involving heavy lift, structural steel, industrial facilities, and specialty construction.
- Competitive compensation based on experience, technical expertise, and professional licensure.
- Comprehensive benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Paid Time Off, and Paid Holidays.

Structural Engineer Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a structural engineer job in Atlanta?
Focus your search on the commercial real estate developers, civil engineering consultancies, and transit-focused firms concentrated in Midtown and Buckhead. Atlanta's ongoing MARTA expansion, mixed-use high-rise activity, and university campus projects drive consistent hiring. Candidates with experience in steel and concrete design for mid-rise or transit structures have an edge locally. Connecting with Atlanta chapters of ASCE and SE2050 also surfaces unadvertised openings.
Which companies hire structural engineers in Atlanta?
Employers hiring structural engineers in Atlanta right now include Sargent & Lundy, VHB, and WSP, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Atlanta's market includes large multidisciplinary engineering firms, specialized structural consultancies, and municipal agencies managing infrastructure and transit capital programs.
Are there remote structural engineer jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, but structural engineering is largely site-dependent, so fully remote roles are less common than in software or finance. About 34% of structural engineer openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with most flexibility found in analysis, modeling, and report-writing phases rather than site observation or construction administration work.
How can I get a structural engineer job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Atlanta is through a staff engineer or EIT role at a mid-size consulting firm, where project variety and mentorship are strong. Atlanta-area firms supporting Georgia DOT work and Fulton County school construction regularly hire entry-level candidates. A Georgia EIT credential and proficiency in Revit or ETABS give applicants a concrete edge over peers with equivalent degrees but no local credentials.
Which industries hire the most structural engineers in Atlanta?
Atlanta structural engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Atlanta's sustained investment in transit expansion, mixed-use urban development, and healthcare facility construction keeps demand across those sectors consistently above the national average.
