Job Description
Who will you be working with?
Wabtec – Motive Equipment (MEI) produces cab comfort products for locomotives. We are ISO9001 certified and firmly committed to continually providing consistently high levels of quality and reliability, competitive products, to meet or exceed Wabtec customer expectations in a timely manner and continually improving the effectiveness of the quality management system.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Motive Equipment location of Wabtec, you will be responsible for the shipping and receiving functions of the site. The Shipping/Receiving Clerk reports directly to the Production Supervisor. The team ensures compliance with Wabtec’s quality standards, while working efficiently and effectively within a lean environment, and is instrumental in maintaining a level of customer satisfaction.
What do we want to know about you?
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in shipping/receiving role.
- International shipping experience a plus.
- Requires a basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and ERP systems.
- Experience driving a sit down and stand-up forklift.
- Ability to work effectively unsupervised.
- Strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.
- Ability to respond positively to feedback and implement change in process and procedures as needed.
- Basic math skills.
- Utilize software, such as Oracle, and various website-based programs customer (supplier) portals.
What will your typical day look like?
- Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determines method of shipment and contact trucking companies or 3rd party logistics to schedule pickups.
- Loads/Unloads all inbound and outbound trucks along with interaction with freight personnel.
- Scan all shipping paperwork.
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons identifying shipping information on cartons.
- Assemble containers and package products utilizing the proper packing materials.
- Unpackage and examine incoming shipments for damage/shortage and load information into ERP system. Consult the purchasing department on any necessary resolutions.
- Utilize customer portals, UPS/FedEx portals to ship outbound shipments.
- Utilize the ERP system to process shipments, pick to order, generate BOL’s, packing slips, and invoices.
- Upload proper paperwork to the corporate team to obtain customs paperwork.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
What about the physical demands of the job?
Employee is regularly required to:
- Hear.
- Read, write, and communicate in English.
- Sit 6 hours at a time, with minimal breaks.
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds independently or up to 25 pounds with assistance.
- Vision abilities include close and distance vision, color distinction, and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
Employee is required to wear hearing protection in designated areas. The Position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities. Requires daily face-to-face interaction and communication with employees on production line and management.
Work Environment
The employee will normally work in a controlled office environment and occasionally on the production shop floor that does not have controlled temperatures and will vary based on weather conditions. May occasionally be exposed to fumes and minimal to moderate noise. Safety shoes and safety glasses required on the shop floor.
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
Compensation
- The hourly rate for this role is in the range of $24.00-27.00 per hour.
The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
