Eaton’s Critical Power Solutions division is currently seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Datacenter Systems (DCS) team. This is a hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) work model based at our Raleigh NC facility. In-office presence is required based on business and work needs. Remote flexibility is provided to support productivity, but employees should expect to be on-site as necessary to meet team and project requirements. Relocation benefits will be provided within the United States only.
Eaton’s Critical Power Solutions Division designs, manufactures, and supports UPS, energy storage, power distribution, and related products that help keep critical infrastructure operational. Our team supports data centers, businesses, electric vehicle charging stations, and other customers that depend on reliable power performance in demanding environments.
This individual will provide engineering design support for power quality and energy storage products, including Engineer-to-Order solutions of UPS, batteries and power distribution equipment. The Lead Electrical Engineer will partner with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, safety agencies, and customers to develop product designs, resolve technical issues, and provide guidance on product performance and operation.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year.

What you’ll do:
- Serve as Project Lead on assigned Engineer-to-Order projects from pre-sales through engineering, release, manufacturing and on-site commissioning.
- Review assigned Engineer-to-Order (ETO) tasks and determine the final design to implement based on budget, performance requirements, and shipment timeline.
- Develop required engineering documentation like electrical drawings, schematics harness designs, BOMs and specifications to support manufacturing, servicing, and customer submittals.
- Work closely with mechanical and firmware engineers and cross-functional departments like manufacturing to formulate and manufacture effective product designs and resolve technical challenges.
- Provide engineering designs and technical guidance for power quality products, including UPS, energy storage systems, power distribution, and related products to engineers, internal stakeholders, and key customers before and after the sale.
- Participate in pre-sale and post-sale technical issue resolution to support customer needs and business objectives.
- Work directly with safety agencies and implement designs that meet applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
- This position requires up to 25% travel to customer sites for on-site commissioning, testing, and design robustness reviews.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum five (5) years of electrical engineering experience or a master’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of three (3) years’ work experience.
- Minimum of 1+ year of experience with three-phase power systems OR power electronics OR power conversion topologies.
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future. Eaton will not consider applicants who require employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position, including CPT, OPT, STEM OPT, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, or similar sponsorship or support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with UPS, battery systems, protective devices, and power distribution (LV Switchboards).
- Experience interfacing with customers and converting VoC to project requirements.
- Experience with datacenter systems architectures and developing engineering documentation like electrical drawings, schematics harness designs, BOMs and specifications to support manufacturing, servicing, and customer submittals.
- Position requires an individual who is self-motivated, self-managed, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements
