Tax Services Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a tax services manager job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's energy corridor, major accounting and advisory firms clustered in Greenway Plaza and downtown, and the healthcare systems anchored in the Texas Medical Center. Candidates who combine CPA credentials with oil and gas, midstream, or international tax experience stand out in this market. Networking through the Houston CPA Society and targeting mid-size regional firms can also open doors faster than national job boards.
Which companies hire tax services managers in Houston?
Employers hiring tax services managers in Houston right now include BDO, EY, and PwC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's mix of integrated energy majors, Big Four and regional accounting firms, and large hospital systems means demand cuts across several distinct employer types.
Are there remote tax services manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, though most roles require some in-office presence given the client-facing and team-oversight nature of the position. About 75% of tax services manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common. Tax compliance and advisory work tied to national clients tends to offer the most schedule flexibility in the Houston market.
How can I get a tax services manager job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is to start as a tax associate or senior associate at one of Houston's regional accounting firms or the local offices of national firms, then build toward a manager role over three to five years. Houston's energy sector also hires junior tax professionals into in-house roles that develop into management tracks. Gaining exposure to partnership tax, international tax, or oil and gas severance tax early gives you a clear edge in this market.
Which industries hire the most tax services managers in Houston?
Most tax services manager openings in Houston sit in Accounting & Auditing, Technology & Software, and Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's identity as the energy capital of the country, combined with its large healthcare and professional services base, keeps demand for specialized tax managers consistently high across those sectors.
