Corporate Accountant Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a corporate accountant in Texas?
Most corporate accountant roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. To advance or qualify for senior positions, earning a CPA license through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy is the recognized credential in the state. The board requires completing the required education hours, passing the Uniform CPA Exam, and meeting the experience requirement before licensure. Many employers accept candidates actively pursuing CPA licensure while working.
How much do corporate accountants make in Texas?
Corporate accountants in Texas earn a median of about $80,920 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $53,380 for the lowest 10% to over $132,040 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire corporate accountants in Texas?
Employers hiring corporate accountants in Texas right now include Alvarez & Marsal, Amazon, and GlobalFoundries, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, Fortune 500 headquarters, and large healthcare systems means corporate accountant openings come from a wide range of established, well-funded employers across industries.
Which Texas cities have the most corporate accountant jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Austin have the most corporate accountant openings in Texas. Houston's density of energy and petrochemical companies, Dallas's base of financial services and corporate headquarters, and Austin's growing technology sector each generate consistent demand, while suburban corridors like The Woodlands and Plano also see steady openings from large regional employers.
Are there remote corporate accountant jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 22% of corporate accountant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how well the analytical and reporting side of the role translates to distributed work. Financial reporting, management accounting, and budgeting roles are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements, while positions requiring hands-on access to physical records or on-site systems tend to be fully in-office.
How can I get hired as a corporate accountant in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an accounting staff or junior financial analyst role, which large Texas employers in energy, healthcare, and technology regularly fill with recent graduates. Companies like major Houston-area energy firms and Dallas-based financial services organizations run structured new-graduate rotational or development programs in finance and accounting. Completing your first few years in public accounting at a Texas-based regional or Big Four firm also builds the technical foundation that corporate employers look for, and pursuing CPA licensure through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy gives candidates a measurable edge.
