Corporate Accountant Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a corporate accountant in Ohio?
Most corporate accountant roles in Ohio require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and many employers prefer candidates who hold or are pursuing a CPA license issued through the Accountancy Board of Ohio. To sit for the CPA exam in Ohio, candidates must complete the required semester hours in accounting and business courses. While CPA licensure is not always mandatory for corporate roles, it consistently strengthens a candidate's competitiveness in the Ohio market.
How much do corporate accountants make in Ohio?
Corporate accountants in Ohio earn a median of about $79,320 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $52,140 for the lowest 10% to over $131,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire corporate accountants in Ohio?
Employers hiring corporate accountants in Ohio right now include Wallick Communities, Dana, and Battelle, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Ohio's concentration of insurance, manufacturing, and financial services headquarters means corporate accounting roles appear regularly across a wide range of established companies throughout the state.
Which Ohio cities have the most corporate accountant jobs?
Columbus, Toledo, and New Albany have the most corporate accountant openings in Ohio. Columbus leads due to its density of insurance and financial services headquarters, Cleveland draws demand from its banking, healthcare, and professional services sectors, and Cincinnati benefits from the presence of several Fortune 500 consumer goods and financial companies that maintain large corporate finance teams in the region.
Are there remote corporate accountant jobs in Ohio?
Yes, and more than many fields, since corporate accounting is fundamentally desk-based and analytical work that translates well to remote environments. About 50% of corporate accountant openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting a broad shift toward flexible arrangements in finance functions. General ledger, financial reporting, and FP&A roles tend to have the highest share of remote options, while roles requiring close coordination with on-site operations or physical records are more likely to be in-office.
How can I get hired as a corporate accountant in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a staff accountant or accounting associate role at a mid-size Ohio company or regional firm, then building toward a corporate position once you have a year or two of close and reconciliation experience. Large Ohio employers in Columbus and Cleveland frequently hire new graduates into rotational finance programs or accounting development tracks. Pursuing your CPA candidacy through the Accountancy Board of Ohio while working is a strong differentiator, and experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll gives candidates a concrete lateral path into corporate accounting without prior corporate-specific experience.
Where can I find and apply to corporate accountant jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to corporate accountant jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that interest you.
