Financial Consultant Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial consultant in Ohio?
Most financial consultant roles in Ohio require passing FINRA licensing exams, typically the Series 65 or Series 66, which qualify you to act as an investment adviser representative in the state. Ohio does not have a separate state-issued financial consultant license beyond FINRA registration. Employers typically expect a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics, and many larger Ohio firms require or strongly prefer candidates who hold or are pursuing the CFP designation.
Which companies hire financial consultants in Ohio?
Employers hiring financial consultants in Ohio right now include Rea, TIAA, and Arcadis, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Ohio's concentration of major insurance carriers, regional banks, and wealth management firms means consistent openings across both large institutions and independent advisory practices throughout the state.
Which Ohio cities have the most financial consultant jobs?
Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dublin have the most financial consultant openings in Ohio. Columbus drives the largest share of postings as the state capital and headquarters city for insurance giants and regional banks, while Cleveland's financial district and Cincinnati's concentration of asset management and insurance firms generate strong demand in both of those metros as well.
Are there remote financial consultant jobs in Ohio?
Yes, and more than many fields, since financial consulting is largely desk-based and relationship-driven work that translates well to remote or hybrid arrangements. About 86% of financial consultant openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly firms have adopted flexible models since the shift to digital client meetings. Portfolio review, financial planning, and investment analysis work are the functions most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a financial consultant in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a large Ohio-based financial institution as a financial advisor trainee or associate, where firms such as Nationwide, Fifth Third Bank, or KeyCorp run structured new-graduate development programs that provide licensing support and mentored client exposure. Candidates moving from banking, accounting, or insurance roles into financial consulting are also well positioned, since client service and analytical experience transfers directly. Completing the Series 65 exam and beginning the CFP coursework before applying gives entry-level candidates a measurable edge in Ohio hiring.
Where can I find and apply to financial consultant jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to financial consultant jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search through the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to each one.
