We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to support accurate, timely healthcare claims management. You will work with medical records, billing software, and electronic medical record (EMR) and electronic health record (EHR) systems while helping patients and care teams navigate billing questions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit medical billing claims; follow up on denials, payment issues, and outstanding balances.
- Apply ICD-9 and ICD-10 International Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding, and Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) knowledge as applicable.
- Review medical records for accurate coding and documentation; maintain confidentiality and resolve discrepancies with appropriate staff.
- Support medical collections and provide clear, respectful customer service to patients and insurance representatives.
- Use billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office to track claims and maintain accurate records.
Requirements
- Medical billing or medical coding experience; medical office experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare claims management, health insurance, medical terminology, and medical records.
- Familiarity with ICD coding, CPT coding, and DRG concepts; experience with ICD-9 and ICD-10 is an asset.
- Experience using billing software and EMR/EHR systems, along with Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and customer service skills.
