Job Summary
As a Medical Billing & Coding Specialist, you’ll help keep healthcare claims accurate and moving through the revenue cycle. You’ll review medical records, assign appropriate codes, prepare claims, and support follow-up on billing issues. Your work helps providers receive accurate reimbursement and helps patients benefit from clear, timely claim processing.
Duties
- Review medical records and electronic health record (EHR) documentation for completeness and coding accuracy.
- Apply ICD-9 and ICD-10 diagnosis codes, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes, and Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) classifications as appropriate.
- Prepare and submit claims, including insurance third-party billing, and support health insurance claim processing.
- Follow medical coding guidelines and applicable payer requirements; investigate denials, discrepancies, and collection issues.
- Maintain accurate records in electronic medical record (EMR) and EHR systems, using billing software to support coding and billing workflows.
