Real Estate Finance Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a real estate finance in New York?
A bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, economics, or accounting is the standard entry point for real estate finance roles in New York. New York does not require a state license specifically for real estate finance analysts or associates, though professionals who originate mortgage loans must register with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System through the New York Department of Financial Services. Most firms also look for Argus Enterprise proficiency and a foundation in financial modeling.
How much do real estate finances make in New York?
Real estate finances in New York earn a median of about $127,930 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,540 for the lowest 10% to over $225,380 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire real estate finances in New York?
Employers hiring real estate finances in New York right now include Houlihan Lokey, AmTrust Financial, and Blackstone, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of private equity firms, REITs, and major commercial banks makes it one of the deepest hiring markets for this role in the country.
Which New York cities have the most real estate finance jobs?
New York, Columbus, and Manhattanville have the most real estate finance openings in New York. Manhattan dominates because it is home to the headquarters of the largest private equity real estate firms, commercial banks, and institutional asset managers, while White Plains and Long Island City draw volume from regional offices and mid-market lenders serving the broader New York metro.
Are there remote real estate finance jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many finance roles, since the analytical and modeling work can be done off-site. About 22% of real estate finance openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, though deal execution and client-facing responsibilities typically require in-office presence. Underwriting, financial modeling, and portfolio reporting positions tend to offer the most schedule flexibility.
How can I get hired as a real estate finance in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a financial analyst rotational program at a large New York firm such as Brookfield, Cushman and Wakefield, or a major commercial bank. Candidates without direct real estate experience often move in from corporate finance or accounting roles, since the modeling and credit analysis skills transfer directly. A strong Argus Enterprise certification and a completed real estate financial modeling course signal readiness to New York hiring managers evaluating early-career candidates.
Where can I find and apply to real estate finance jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to real estate finance jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings across commercial real estate, investment management, lending, and private equity. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to employers from the listings.
