The path to a senior director of finance role in New York typically begins with a finance, accounting, or economics degree followed by progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or accounting leadership. While no state-issued license is required for the role itself, New York employers strongly favor candidates who hold a CPA credential, which involves passing the Uniform CPA Exam and meeting New York State Education Department experience requirements. An MBA from a recognized program accelerates advancement into director-level positions.

Employers hiring senior director of finances in New York right now include Highgate, New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development, and NYC Health + Hospitals, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New York's concentration of global financial institutions, Fortune 500 headquarters, and large healthcare networks makes it one of the deepest markets in the country for senior finance leadership roles.
Which New York cities have the most senior director of finance jobs?
