Wealth Management Associate Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a wealth management associate in New York?
Most wealth management associates in New York start with a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or business and then obtain FINRA licensing, typically the Series 7 and Series 66, which are required by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and registered through the Central Registration Depository. New York does not impose a separate state-level wealth management license, but brokers must also register with the New York State Department of Financial Services. Earning a CFP designation strengthens competitiveness significantly.
How much do wealth management associates make in New York?
Wealth management associates in New York earn a median of about $166,400 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $76,190 for the lowest 10% to over $427,700 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire wealth management associates in New York?
Employers hiring wealth management associates in New York right now include JPMorganChase, Goldman Sachs, and Wealthbridge Financial, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New York City's concentration of global banks, independent registered investment advisors, and family offices makes it one of the deepest hiring pools for this role in the country.
Which New York cities have the most wealth management associate jobs?
The cities with the most wealth management associate openings in New York are New York, Albany, and Monroe. New York City dominates because it is home to the headquarters and flagship offices of the country's largest banks, wirehouses, and independent advisory firms, while suburban markets like White Plains attract regional wealth management operations serving affluent Westchester and Connecticut clients.
Are there remote wealth management associate jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical fields because the role often requires in-person client interaction and collaboration with licensed advisors. About 61% of wealth management associate openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with most flexibility concentrated in back-office and portfolio operations functions rather than client-facing positions.
How can I get hired as a wealth management associate in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a financial services analyst or client service associate role at a New York wirehouse or regional bank, which provides on-the-job FINRA exam sponsorship and direct exposure to wealth management workflows. Firms like Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan Chase run formal new-associate programs in New York that onboard candidates without direct experience. Completing the Series 7 exam before applying, even without a sponsoring employer, demonstrates initiative and shortens the time to first placement.
Where can I find and apply to wealth management associate jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to wealth management associate jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings updated regularly. Find roles that fit your experience and credentials and apply directly to the employers posting them.
